A fair question about VIP and Gold Crate keys, answered honestly A fair question, answered honestly. ## What money buys [VIP](/chunkedworld/vip/vip.md) and Gold Crate keys, from [store.chunk3d.com](https://store.chunk3d.com). VIP gives quality-of-life and small economic edges: a drag-and-drop sell window, more Auction House listing slots, a better weekly kit, and Gold Crate keys included on purchase. Gold Crate keys give gear - diamond and netherite equipment, enchanted books, a Beacon, a Trident, and rarely an Elytra. Every one of the 13 ranks is earned by completing quests, and the quest goals are identical for VIP and non-VIP players. See [Ranks](/chunkedworld/progression/ranks.md). * **Island size.** Your maximum chunk count is tied to rank, so it's tied to quests. * **World access.** Nether, wilderness, and End unlock at specific ranks. VIP doesn't open them early. * **Prestige.** The wipe and the plus ranks are earned. ## The honest assessment {% hint style="info" %} VIP's better kit are a real head start, and Gold keys really can hand someone endgame gear early. That's a genuine advantage, but it does not skip the game. Non-VIP players are also able to get Gold keys for free by playing game. {% endhint %} What it doesn't do is skip the game. The progression ladder - which is most of what ChunkedWorld actually is - is quest-gated from Settler to Freeman+ and can't be bought at any price. A paying player and a free player reach the End on exactly the same terms. ## Free routes to the same things * Gold Crate keys drop from Vote Party (the community vote target), from the Event Crate, and from completing all six Daily Tasks in a day.
