# The Nether

Portals, world border, and how Nether terrain restores itself as you travel

Build a nether portal anywhere and light it, the same as vanilla. Coordinates scale 1:8. The nether world is bounded by a world border 620 blocks across, centered on 0,0.

* Terrain generates around you as you travel - no Chunk Generators needed here. Crossing through a portal restores nether chunks automatically and silently.
* The Nether is shared and unowned, like the wilderness. All nether biomes and their mobs work as expected - piglins, hoglins, endermen in warped forests, and so on - and nether fortresses spawn their full mob roster, including wither skeletons.

**Portal etiquette:** a portal can't drop you into another player's island unless a portal already exists there. You can't use nether travel to bypass island protection.
